What actually moves the price
Coaching is unregulated. No license or required training gates the title, so the trustworthy price signal is the coach’s own leadership record and client references, not a credential. Someone who has actually led teams through the problems you’re facing charges more than someone who has only studied leadership — and usually earns it.
Individual versus team scope. Coaching one manager is one price. Coaching a leader while also gathering feedback from their team, or working across a leadership group, is a bigger engagement. Be clear whether you’re buying personal coaching or something closer to organizational work, because they’re priced very differently.
Depth of feedback. The higher tiers often include structured 360 feedback — gathering candid input from peers, reports, and superiors — which is real work and a big part of what makes leadership coaching effective. A cheaper engagement may be conversation only. Ask what feedback mechanism, if any, is built in.
